Painting
the RainbowCOMMUNITY TAI CHI & QIGONG

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

A few answers.
An easier first step.

Find practical information about joining in, choosing a class or arranging something for your group.

Getting started

Do I need to have done Tai Chi & Qigong before?

No previous experience is needed to enquire about a beginner-friendly session. Tell us you are new so we can help you choose a class.

Can I take part seated?

Painting the Rainbow includes seated and standing practice. Ask about the arrangements at your chosen class and discuss what you need before you attend.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes that allow easy movement and secure footwear suitable for the venue. For parks, dress for the weather and ask about the ground conditions.

Do I need to book?

Please contact us before your first visit to check the joining arrangements for the class or park session you have chosen.

What if I have a health condition?

Tell the instructor about relevant concerns and discuss any adjustments you may need. If you are unsure whether a new activity is appropriate for you, speak to a suitable health professional. A community class does not replace individual clinical advice.

Classes & costs

How much are community classes?

Ask about the fee for your chosen class. Arrangements can vary between venues and groups. We can confirm the cost and session length when you enquire.

Are the park sessions free?

Funded sessions and sessions with a payment or donation are clearly labelled in the park directory. Check the arrangements before attending, particularly for winter venues.

Can I find an evening class?

For further Tai Chi & Qigong classes, including evening practice, visit our sister organisation Kai Ming at www.kaiming.co.uk. Painting the Rainbow’s directory focuses on its community sessions.

How do I check accessibility?

Ask about your selected venue before travelling. Tell us if you need step-free access, seating, accessible toilets, nearby parking or other support so the arrangements can be checked.

In the parks

Do park sessions continue through winter?

Some continue, some move indoors and some pause because of daylight or other seasonal conditions. Beacon Park and Chase Terrace Park are listed as moving indoors from October. Check with us for the current winter venue.

What happens in bad weather?

Check before travelling if the weather is uncertain. Ask how updates are shared for your chosen session. The park directory also shows sessions listed as currently closed.

Where do we meet in the park?

Contact us for the exact meeting point and any useful arrival information. A park can have several entrances, so it is worth checking before your first visit.

Groups & resources

Can you come to our group?

Yes—contact us to discuss your location, group size, needs and the kind of session you have in mind. We can explore the space, timing, approach and fee together.

Do you offer staff training?

Ask about your organisation’s aims and the training options available. Specialist rehabilitation and wellbeing training information is available through Midlands Tai Chi Rehab.

Where can I find videos or newsletters?

The resources page links to videos and Painting the Rainbow newsletters. Kai Ming’s shop has information about books and training materials. Ask your instructor which materials fit your current practice.
